Demand for wireless data at bucket-list events shows no sign of decreasing, as big numbers reported by Verizon for its customers at the recent Kentucky Derby and F1 race in Miami show.
According to Verizon, its customers used 39.2 terabytes of data during the recent three-day Miami Grand Prix held around the Hard Rock Stadium complex. According to Verizon statistics, approximately 45 percent of the approximately 275,000 total visitors used Verizon’s wireless networks during the event.
And at this past weekend’s Kentucky Derby, Verizon said its customers used a total of 14.7 TB of wireless data, an increase from the 12.8 TB seen by Verizon during last year’s race. Out of the approximately 157,000 fans in attendance, Verizon said 33 percent used Verizon networks during Saturday’s races at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. The distributed antenna system (DAS) at Churchill Downs is provided by Boldyn Networks.
