The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed a deal with Boldyn Networks to bring a new 5G distributed antenna system (DAS) to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to improve cellular connectivity for fans and for back-of-house communications.
Boldyn, a newly formed communications-services provider that includes the company formerly known as Mobilitie, said it will deploy a neutral host indoor DAS that supports all 5G spectrum bands, including 2.5GHz and C-band. The press release announcing the deal did not specify when the network would be completed.
“Our fans are the heart and soul of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and it’s our responsibility to provide them with an unparalleled, immersive gameday experience the moment they enter into Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse,” said Michael Conley, chief information officer of Cleveland Cavaliers, in a prepared statement. “We’re constantly exploring new ways to leverage innovative, emerging technology that will deepen connections with our fans in Cleveland and beyond, and we couldn’t do this without our partnership with Boldyn Networks.
