It’s always fun to drill down into the replies to specific questions we asked in our yearly Stadium Connectivity Outlook survey. The one we are highlighting here, about what venue tech operators’ top concerns are for the next 12 months, provides a pretty clear answer: Budgets, and all the input that influences them, are top of mind for the stadium technology professionals who participated in the survey.

As venues continue to recover from the Covid shutdowns that also shut down event incomes, it’s interesting to see that our respondents say they need to increase revenues while also cutting operating costs. How to do that? One clear way to help out in both regards is to employ more technology in stadium operations, especially in resource-heavy places like stadium entry and concessions.
Our analysis is that deployments of technologies including walk-through security scanners and self-checkout concession systems has already helped venues streamline some processes. One data point for this conclusion is that staffing, the top concern in last year’s survey, has dropped to fourth place on this year’s list.
While still a top concern, has technology deployment eased the critical pain of not having enough staffers to go around? It’s a great question and one we will ask throughout the next year — just another way our survey helps inform the coverage we provide to our audience.
