Zippin, the leader in checkout-free concession stands in sports stadiums, formalized its most popular format by labeling it the “Zippin Lane,” and announced four new locations of the format at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
According to a press announcement, Zippin said the Zippin Lane versions of its checkout-free stores — which are a prefab model designed to fit into previously empty or otherwise unused concourse spaces — are both quick to deploy and fast on ROI return.
Zippin, which also has built its technology into existing concession spaces at stadiums and into larger stores, said the new Zippin Lanes (which it had previously called “Drink Lanes”) at Allegiant Stadium had shown faster service, increased sales and an increase in available SKUs over traditional walk-up concessions stands that had been in the same areas last year.
According to the Raiders, the stores offer more than a dozen types of beer, canned cocktails, seltzers, non-alcoholic beverages and snack selections. Zippin said the Allegiant Stadium stores have been open in a “soft launch” mode during the NFL preseason.
Zippin said the prefab Zippin Lanes can be installed into a venue in a week, a much faster deployment time than other placements that might include retrofit construction needs (like restructuring ceiling heights for camera placements). According to Zippin its turnkey design uses an average of 240 square feet per store.
“We are always looking ahead to what can make our fan experience even better, and Zippin’s advanced technology offers guests a speedy service, with a variety of great options in four easy-access locations on the 300 level of the stadium,” said Sandra Douglass Morgan, President of the Las Vegas Raiders, in a prepared statement. “With no checkout process, guests don’t have to worry about missing the next big play.”
Though Zippin said it cannot officially name and place all its new stands due to contractural promotion restrictions, it did claim that it now has 20 Zippin Lane stands in nine different NFL stadiums, including the five new stands previously announced at Nissan Stadium in Memphis, and some previously installed at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. Zippin also said some of the Zippin Lane stands are at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
According to our unofficial count, Zippin now has 34 stores using its technology announced or deployed at stadiums around the country, which puts it ahead of Amazon, which recently announced its 15th stadium store which opened at Lumen Field in Seattle Monday night. AiFi, another competitor in the checkout-free category, has said it has new stadium stores it will announce soon, including at NFL venues. AiFi recently opened a “drink lane” format store of its own in England, showing that the quick-deploy, limited-footprint version of these types of stands may be an increasingly popular option for venues.
